“Miguel Rodríguez’s new album “Keepsake” presents twelve tracks of a new and fresh sound of mainstream piano jazz trio based on a common denominator: swing. With solid and innovative arrangements the album rescues some not very known standards and tunes from some of his favourite jazz players/composers as Horace Silver, Hank Mobley and James Moody, as well as his original opening track “Claudia’s Favorite”.

A combination of a strong tradition with modern elements under the lead of the groove and the blues, makes “Keepsake” an album very enjoyable for the listener.

“Miguel Rodríguez is a remarkable jazz pianist who was born in Madrid and has been based in The Netherlands for more than a decade, where he moved to continue his musical education. After his graduation “cum laude” at the Amsterdam Conservatorium and his time in New York (where he studied with Aaron Goldberg, Dave Kikoski, Kenny Werner, Fred Hersch..) his career has not stopped growing. He has played with some international outstanding names of jazz like Brandford Marsalis, Terell Stafford, Willy Jones III, Donald Harrison or Eddie Henderson. In The Netherlands he is part of some of the most actives bands of the scene as Benjamin Herman Quartet, Maarten Hogenhuis Quartet, Ben vd Dungen, and more”
